Mouser Congratulates the Winners of 2024 Create the Future Design Contest

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader™ empowering innovation, congratulates the winners of the 2024 Create the Future Design Contest, a global challenge to engineers and innovators around the world to design the next great thing. SAE Media Group, an SAE International Company, and Tech Briefs magazine produce the competition. COMSOL is also a principal sponsor of the contest.

“Mouser congratulates the 2024 Create the Future Contest winners, and we thank all of the participants for entering their creative ideas. Part of our mission is empowering innovation, so we are excited to support this global design contest that spotlights technical ingenuity,” said Kevin Hess, Mouser’s Senior Vice President of Marketing. “The world is seeing amazing advancements in electronic design thanks to forward-thinking engineers and innovators like these.”

Together with Mouser and COMSOL, the SAE Media Group awarded the $25,000 grand prize to Sam Currier from West Bloomfield, Michigan, for the submission “NETrolyze: A Novel Immunotherapy for Triple-Negative Breast Cancer.” The design consists of a small molecule loaded into a slow-release gel, which fights off metastasis. It systematically targets only the cancerous tumour while preserving the integrity of the body’s overall immune system. The localised delivery mechanism of NETrolyze circumvents the complications associated with chemotherapy by effectively preventing cancer spread while maintaining the patient’s overall health.

Finalists were selected by senior editors at SAE Media Group, the producer of the contest, and judged by an independent panel of design engineers. Judges awarded the following category winners, who received prizes from HP and other companies:

  • Aerospace and Defense Category Winner:
    Laser-generated Anti-icing and Anti-fogging Transparent Materials

The Create the Future Design Contest brings attention to product designs that enhance humanity, improve healthcare quality or help provide sustainable solutions. The contest was created in 2002 by the publishers of Tech Briefs magazine to help stimulate and reward engineering innovation.
