Mouser is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the 22nd Create the Future Design Contest, a global challenge to engineers and innovators around the world to design the next great thing for a chance to win the grand prize. Mouser, which has sponsored the contest for over ten years, is joined again by valued manufacturers Intel® and Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) as co-sponsors. The competition is produced by SAE Media Group, an SAE International Company, and Tech Briefs magazine. COMSOL is also a principal sponsor of the contest. The contest opened for entries on 1 March and will close on 1 July 2024. The grand prize winner receives worldwide recognition and a cash prize of $25,000 for an innovative product that benefits society and the economy. Previous contests have produced more than 15,000 design ideas from engineers, entrepreneurs and students in more than 100 countries. The Create the Future Design Contest brings attention to product designs that enhance humanity, improve healthcare quality or help provide sustainable solutions. Previous grand prize-winning entries include self-destroying plastics, a self-contained organ and limb transport device, and an economical, rapid screening device to prevent food-borne illness. The grand prize winner will be chosen from the winners in seven entry categories: Aerospace and Defense, Automotive/Transportation, Electronics, Manufacturing and Materials, Medical, Robotics and Automation, and Sustainable Technology.

- New Product – Mouser Now Stocking Texas Instruments TDES9640 Deserializer Hub for Machine Vision and Robotic Imaging Applications
Mouser is now shipping the TDES9640 V3Link™ deserializer hub from Texas Instruments. The TDES9640 V3Link deserializer hub connects up to 4 data sensors to a processing unit over a coaxial or STP cable. The TDES9640 offers leading-edge smart sensing and secure connectivity, along with power-saving motor drive, control, and power management functions that boost sensor and link performance, utilising a robust, ultra-high-speed forward (7.55 Gbps) and bi-directional control channel (47.1875 Mbps), to push and aggregate data into two MIPI CSI-2 D-PHY or C-PHY outputs, for downstream processing. The V³Link deserializer hub minimises chips and cabling, synchronises multiple cameras and enables AI and high-performance processing for machine vision applications. The TDES9640, together with integrated multipurpose processors featuring artificial intelligence (AI) accelerators and high-speed communication interfaces such as Gigabit Ethernet, single-pair Ethernet, USB 3.0 and Power over Ethernet, is compatible with industry-standard sensor and display interfaces with a variety of cable and connector types for radar, LIDAR or other ultrasonic proximity applications. When combined with a companion serializer, the TDES9640 receives video data from image sensors or video sources, facilitating ultra-high resolutions for multiple sensors in appliances, machine vision, and robotic and medical imaging applications.

- New Product – Mouser Now Shipping Melexis MLX90830 Triphibian MEMS Sensor, Delivering Reliable Pressure Detection in Harsh Environments
Mouser is now stocking the MLX90830 Triphibian™ MEMS pressure sensor from Melexis. With a cantilever design, the MLX90830 measures gas and liquid pressure in diverse environments with high precision and reliability. This sensor is the first product to feature patented Triphibian technology. The advanced pressure sensor offers consistent performance and durability in all the conditions an electric vehicle is likely to experience. The sensor operates in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 150°C, measuring gas and liquid pressures from 2 to 70 bar while also surviving frozen states. The ability to measure gaseous and liquid states and survive solid (frozen) states means that the sensor can operate under all possible conditions. The sensor can be integrated as a standalone device or embedded in expansion valves, e-compressors, or pumps in electric vehicle thermal management systems. Developed as an ASIL A SEooC (ISO 26262) device, it ensures a high level of safety and reliability in automotive applications. The MLX90830 IC is also a suitable choice for HVAC-R applications.
