  • New Product – Mouser Now Shipping Phoenix Contact’s PSRmodular XC Safety Modules, Monitoring Safety in Extreme Ambient Conditions

Mouser is now stocking the PSRmodular XC safety modules from Phoenix Contact. The PSRmodular XC Safety Modules minimise machine downtimes with comprehensive and easy-to-understand diagnostics. These modules meet stringent safety standards for reliable performance in a variety of industrial settings. The modules are TÜV, UL, and CSA certified and have several advanced approvals in preparation, including ATEX zone 2, heat treatment (EN 746, EN 298, and EN 50156), and UL Class 1, Div. 2. The modules operate effectively in a temperature range of -10ºC to +70ºC and feature corrosion protection with additional conformal coating on the printed circuit board. The configurable PSRmodular XC small-scale controllers can monitor multiple safety functions within a single application. The modules can also be easily adapted to meet increased input/output port requirements, making them a versatile solution for expanding industrial needs. These safety modules can be easily configured using the PSRmodular software, requiring no programming skills. Users can set up the safety logic graphically with a drag-and-drop interface. Suitable for use in harsh environments, the PSRmodular XC modules allow for faster resolution of safety incidents in process industry and maritime machinery applications.

  • New Product – Mouser Now Stocking AMD / Xilinx Alveo MA35D Media Accelerator for Streaming, Gaming, Telemedicine and eLearning Applications

Mouser is now shipping the Alveo™ MA35D media accelerator from AMD / Xilinx. This media accelerator is an AI-enabled, ASIC-based video processing PCIe card for high-density, ultra-low latency streaming for video collaboration, social live events, telemedicine, cloud gaming, auctions and eLearning applications. The Alveo MA35D is powered by an application-specific integrated circuit-based video processing unit built for high-density, ultra-low latency streaming. Each device (2x per card) features four discrete encoder engines, featuring two 5 nm, ASIC-based video processing units (VPUs) supporting the AV1 compression standard, enabling streaming providers the flexibility to concurrently scale multiple standards to new and legacy endpoints. By performing all video processing functions on the VPU, data movement between the CPU and accelerator is minimised, reducing overall latency and maximising channel. The platform also provides ultra-low latency support for the mainstream H.264 and H.265 codecs and features next-generation AV1 transcoder engines delivering up to a 52% reduction in bitrate for bandwidth savings versus comparable software. This media accelerator also features an integrated AI processor and dedicated video quality engines designed to evaluate content, frame-by-frame, and dynamically adjust encoder settings to improve perceived visual quality while minimising bitrate. Optimisation techniques include region-of-interest (ROI) encoding for text and face resolution, artifact detection to correct scenes with high levels of motion and complexity, and content-aware encoding for predictive insights for bitrate optimisation.

  • New Product – Mouser Now Shipping Microchip Technology’s MCP998x Automotive Temperature Sensors, Providing Multichannel Thermal Control

Mouser is now stocking the MCP998x automotive temperature sensors from Microchip Technology. The MCP998x family of AEC-Q100 grade 1 qualified multichannel sensors measure temperatures with 1 °C accuracy up to 85°C and 2.5°C up to 125°C. These sensors deliver precise heat control in automotive applications, including infotainment systems, engine controls, diagnostics, and side-view mirrors. The MCP998x sensors support accurate thermal monitoring across up to five channels. Integrated resistance error correction and beta compensation provide reliable temperature measurements without the need for additional configuration. With up to five channels of monitoring and several alert and shutdown options for security, this product family can support systems that supervise more than one thermal element. The remote sensors also integrate resistance error correction and beta compensation, eliminating the need for additional configuration for improved accuracy. Monitoring temperatures at multiple locations with a single, integrated temperature sensor reduces board complexity and size, and simplifies design for a lowered bill of material (BOM). These sensors provide superior accuracy at the higher temperatures expected in demanding automotive applications. In addition, the sensors’ 1.7 V to 3.6 V supply voltage range ensures compatibility with a variety of systems. Resistor-driven setpoints protect critical shutdown temperatures from malicious software overrides. The MCP998x sensors are supported by the EV23P16A evaluation board, also available from Mouser.
