The news highlights from Mouser this week are:

  • New Product – Mouser Now Stocking STMicroelectronics ST1VAFE6AX Biosensor for Smart Devices and Wearables
Mouser is now shipping the ST1VAFE6AX biosensor from STMicroelectronics. The ST1VAFE6AX provides design engineers with next generation biopotential signal detection and motion tracking for a variety of applications, including heart rate, pulse monitoring, electrocardiogram (ECG) and activity tracking for wearables and portable medical devices. The ST1VAFE6AX features a vertical analogue front end (vAFE) channel to detect biopotential signals and includes a 6-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) for motion tracking. This biosensor embeds advanced dedicated features and data processing for motion processing like the finite state machine (FSM), sensor fusion low power (SFLP), adaptive self-configuration (ASC), and machine learning core (MLC) with exportable artificial intelligence (AI) features and filters. The device fully synchronises biopotential and motion sensing for context-aware analysis. The ST1VAFE6AX biosensor’s compact 2.5 × 3.0 × 0.71 mm footprint makes it ideal for space-constrained applications. Application development with ST1VAFE6AX biosensor is supported by the STEVAL-MKI242A adapter board. The STEVAL-MKI242A adapter can also be used with the STMicroelectronics STEVAL-MKI109V3 motherboard, the STEVAL-MKBOXPRO programmable wireless box kit, or the X-NUCLEO-IKS4A1 motion MEMS and environmental sensor expansion board.

  • New Product – Mouser Now Offering Analog Devices’ MAX40109 Low-Power Precision Sensor Interface SoC for Pressure Sensor Applications
Mouser is now stocking the MAX40109 low-power precision sensor interface system-on-chip (SoC) from Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI). The MAX40109 SoC integrates a high-precision, programmable analogue front-end (AFE), analogue-to-digital converter (ADC), calibration memory, and digital signal processing. ADI’s MAX40109 SoC provides a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) with an output buffer to support analogue voltage output and a 4 mA to 20 mA current loop. The MAX40109’s sensor AFE offers both analogue and digital outputs. The device features an operating supply voltage range of 3 to 36 volts and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The analogue front end can interface with resistive bridge-based pressure sensors, and the device can measure temperature either directly from the resistive bridge or from an external thermistor. The MAX40109’s digital interfaces program the device’s calibration memory, the gain of the front-end programmable gain amplifier, and the internal current source that drives the sensors’ bridge. The digital I2C interface can also be used to retrieve the digital output data and generate alarms. Available in a thin quad flat no-lead (TQFN) package, the MAX40109 is designed for a range of sensor applications, including force, pressure, temperature, strain gauges, and Wheatstone-Bridge.

  • New Product – Go Micro with New Bosch BMA530 and BMA580 MEMS Accelerometers from Mouser
Mouser is now stocking the new BMA530 and BMA580 accelerometers from Bosch. The BMA530 and BMA580 are the world’s smallest acceleration sensors for space-constrained applications like wearables and hearables. These accelerometers offer big performance in the industry’s smallest package for design engineers requiring easy implementation without detailed application knowledge. Built-in features enable the BMA530 to track motion activities with a step counter that is especially suitable for wearables. At the same time, the BMA580 targets hearables with voice activity detection that features bone conduction. Typically, microphones consume a lot of power in hearables because they need to be “always-on” to listen for voice activity, but bone conduction detects the vibration of the user’s voice to wake the device from sleep for increased power savings in a miniature sensor size. Compared to Bosch’s previous generation accelerometers, the BMA530 and BMA580 have a 76% smaller footprint in an innovative Wafer Level Chip Scale Package (WLCSP), making them easy to place on a PCB and integrate into portable products, while offering a flexible set of connectivity options, including an I3C® interface. These accelerometers are supported by the BMA530 and BMA580 shuttle boards, available for order from Mouser.
