- New Product – Mouser Debuts New STMicroelectronics ST1VAFE3BX Biosensor with vAFE for Consumer and Medical Wearable Applications
Mouser is now offering the new ST1VAFE3BX biosensor from STMicroelectronics. The ST1VAFE3BX is the first compact, dual-function biosensor combining a vertical analog front-end (vAFE) for detecting biopotential signals with a 3-axis ultralow-power accelerometer for consumer and medical motion tracking and wearable applications. The ST1VAFE3BX is a compact, low-noise, and low-power biosensor with configurable input impedance, making it ideal for wearables and predictive healthcare. The ST1VAFE3BX delivers low latency and unique context-aware edge analysis with an embedded Edge AI machine learning core that is housed in a compact 2 x 2 mm package. With synchronised biopotential and motion signals, the sensor also delivers enhanced compensation for motion artefacts. Mouser also stocks the STMicroelectronics STEVAL-MKI250KA biosensor evaluation kit. The kit consists of a PCB with a pre-mounted ST1VAFE3BX biosensor and a high-performance 32-bit microcontroller (MCU) that functions as a bridge between the sensor and a PC. This MCU enables the use of the downloadable graphical user interface (MEMS Studio) or dedicated software routines for customised applications. The kit makes the complete ST1VAFE3BX pinout available and is recommended for use with the STMicroelectronics STEVAL-MKI109V3 motherboard or STEVAL-MKBOXPRO IoT programmable wireless box kit.

Engineered to rapidly enable higher bandwidth cellular connectivity and provide easy-to-add-on functionality for a variety of OEM devices or IoT gateways, these modules are a perfect fit for designers, OEMs or solution providers looking for the flexibility to switch between multiple frequencies and wireless protocols with ease. The XBee 3 LTE Cat 4 smart modems are based on the Thales PLS83-W cellular chipset and are ideal for applications that require variable bandwidth usage between 100 MB and 1 GB per month. Antenna options include two U.FL cellular diversity antennas and one U.FL GNSS Embedded Bluetooth antenna, and the modems utilise GNSS and 2G and 3G fallback for accurate location services. Part of the company’s diverse XBee Ecosystem, the XBee 3 can also harness the power of the Digi Remote Manager® platform to help bring together a multitude of dispersed IoT devices into a single, dynamic, intelligent network that can quickly deploy, monitor and diagnose thousands of mission-critical devices from a single point of command on a desktop, tablet or phone. To control and protect against new and evolving cyber threats and security concerns, the modems also have built-in Digi TrustFence® security, identity and data privacy features that empower users to easily integrate device security, device identity and data privacy capabilities. The modules are well-suited for monitoring systems, digital signage and smart agriculture. The devices can be ordered with or without a SIM card, depending on need.
