The news highlights from Mouser this week are:

  • New Product – Mouser Now Shipping Silicon Labs’ EFR32xG24 Channel-Sounding Pro Kit for Developing Bluetooth Channel Sound Products

Mouser is now stocking the EFR32xG24 channel-sounding pro kit from Silicon Labs. With the EFR32xG24 kit, developers can quickly create and prototype products that use channel sounding to measure the distance between Bluetooth-connected devices. Channel sounding is used in applications such as smart home locks, phone locators, pet trackers, and industrial and commercial Internet of Things (IoT) solutions such as geofencing and access control. This pro kit provides a complete reference design for the EFR32xG24 wireless system-on-chips (SoCs). The pro kit includes two wireless pro kit mainboards, two dipole antennas, and two radio boards. For reliable performance across applications, the pro kit offers Ethernet and USB connectivity and a Silicon Labs relative humidity and temperature sensor. The devices, one the initiator and the other the reflector, exchange information across 72 RF physical channels — the initiator transmits, and the reflector responds. The two devices then exchange packets and calculate the distance between them based on the time it took for the packets to travel back and forth. The product’s channel sounding’s cross-verification process helps detect anomalies to ensure applications are secure, which is critical when developing access control solutions for hospitals and industrial buildings.

  • New Product – Mouser Now Stocking Texas Instruments’ New DLP4620S-Q1 0.46″ Automotive DMD for High-Resolution AR HUD

Mouser is now offering the DLP4620S-Q1 0.46″ automotive digital micromirror device (DMD) from Texas Instruments. Combined with the DLPC231S-Q1 DMD controller and TPS99000S-Q1 system management and illumination controller, the DLP4620S-Q1 DMD delivers a high-performance, high-resolution augmented reality head-up display (AR HUD). This automotive DMD supports wide field-of-view AR HUDs, digital instrument clusters, and navigation and infotainment windshield displays. This automotive DMD balances resolution and optical throughput, improving the driver experience with a wide field of view and large eye box. Featuring a 2:1 aspect ratio, the DLP4620S-Q1 supports various display requirements for DMD-based automotive applications. The chipset, coupled with lasers or LEDs and an optical system, achieves 125% NTSC colour coverage, a 5000:1 dynamic dimming ratio, 15,000+ cd/m2 brightness, and a high solar tolerance load. The 0.9MP resolution enables retinal-limited displays in HUD applications. The DLP4620S-Q1 DMD uses bottom illumination, allowing for compact and efficient optical engine design in right-hand and left-hand drive vehicles. For efficient thermal management, the DLP4620S-Q1 is panel-packaged with low thermal resistance to the DMD array. The DLP4620S-Q1 is qualified for automotive applications with a -40°C to 105°C operating DMD array temperature range. Quality-managed documentation is available for designing ISO2626-compliant functional safety systems up to ASIL-B. The DLP4620S-Q1 0.46″ automotive DMD is supported by the TI DLP4620SQ1EVM evaluation module.

  • New Product – Mouser Now Offering Phoenix Contact Catan C1 EN Building Automation Controllers for Smart Building Applications

Mouser is now shipping the new Catan C1 EN building automation controllers from Phoenix Contact. These automation controllers are programmed with an Arm® Cortex®-A53 processor (4x 1600MHz), connecting up to 16 external expansion modules via a single-pair Ethernet (SPE) communication bus, including a flexible mix of 14 individually configurable inputs and outputs, for increased space and cost savings. The eight universal inputs are suitable for temperature sensors from 0 V-10 V interfaces, as well as meters. The two universal and four digital channels can be set as outputs or inputs, and an optional plug-in touch display provides support during local priority operation, commissioning and maintenance, as well as secure controller access. These controllers use Phoenix Contact Emalytics software based on the Niagara 4 framework. This software integrates the controller with building management systems using BACnet, KNX, Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, and other communications protocols. These controllers feature a managed ethernet switch, including three ethernet, two serial RS-485, and two USB Type-C® interfaces for connecting a control panel and USB peripherals. It is also the first Niagara controller to have an onboard KNX-TP interface, with two SPE interfaces for multiple Catan extension modules. These automation controllers simplify smart room automation in hospitals, data centres, and commercial building applications.
