In the first part of the seminar, we will focus on the fundamentals around a Vector Network Analyzer. We start with the Transmission Line theory and then we go thru the VNA hardware concept and the way the VNA presents S-parameter measurement results. Finally, we will go thru the all-important user calibration of the VNA, why it is necessary and the different calibration methods.

In the second part of this seminar, we will focus on the typical measurements performed with a Vector Network Analyzer. We start with the filter measurements and how to optimize for speed and dynamic range. Then we go thru both low and high-power amplifier measurements and the pitfalls associated with this. Next there will be an introduction to Time-Domain measurements and finally an introduction to Noise Figure measurements performed with an VNA.
